Wiring & getting started

  1. Match the voltage

    Connect GND and the supply pin marked +5V. Use 5V with a 5V controller, or 3.3V with a 3.3V ADC so the axis signals stay within the controller input range.

  2. Read the controls

    Connect VRx and VRy to analogue inputs. Connect SW to a digital input with a pull-up enabled. On an Arduino UNO R3, use A0, A1 and D2 with INPUT_PULLUP.

  3. Check and calibrate

    Move each axis and check that its reading changes. Press the cap to pull SW low. Measure the centre reading at rest and add a small software dead zone to prevent unwanted movement.
