Overview
A screw terminal adapter is a carrier board that an ESP32 board plugs into, with every pin brought out to a labelled screw terminal, so sensors, relays and power leads screw down firmly instead of hanging off jumper wires. This one takes a 38-pin ESP32 board and comes assembled, with both terminal blocks and all four socket strips soldered on, and four corner holes let you mount the whole build in a project box with M3 screws or standoffs.
Use it for ESPHome and Home Assistant builds that stay wired up for years, relay modules, DS18B20 probes and switches with screw-down leads, or an ESP32 you want to swap out without undoing any wiring. It fits 38-pin boards whose header rows are 0.9in (22.9mm) apart, such as our 38-pin ESP32 board, and a second socket row each side takes wider boards with 1.1in or 1.3in rows. It does not fit our 30-pin ESP32 board, which has 15 pins a side on 1.0in rows, so choose the 38-pin board if you want screw terminals. The adapter has no regulator or other parts, so power and 3.3V logic work exactly as on the ESP32 board itself.

Wiring & getting started
-
Check your board
Count 19 pins on each side and measure between the two header rows: about 22.9mm fits the inner sockets.
-
Fit it the right way round
Put the 3V3 and GND end of the ESP32 (the antenna end) at the 3V3 / GND end of the adapter, with the USB socket at the 5V / CLK end, then press it straight down.
-
Test over USB first
Upload a sketch through the ESP32’s own USB socket before wiring anything to the terminals, so you know the board works in the adapter.
-
Wire up and check
Unplug USB, strip about 5mm of insulation, tighten each wire under its labelled screw, then power up again. Leave SD0 to SD3, CMD and CLK unconnected, because they belong to the ESP32’s flash memory, and if a label on your board differs from the adapter, follow your board’s label. The ESP32 should start and run the same sketch as it did on USB alone. If it no longer starts once wired, something is holding a startup pin, so move pull-ups and LEDs off pins 0, 2, 5, 12 and 15.
