1986 The Christmas Day Kitten by James Herriot. Illustrated by Ruth Brown

1986, The Christmas Day Kitten by James Herriot. Illustrated by Ruth Brown.

On Christmas morning, an independent stray tabby cat named Debbie staggers into the warm home of Mrs. Pickering, gravely ill but carrying a tiny, three-week-old kitten in her mouth. Though Debbie passes away shortly after arriving, her final act ensures her kitten's survival. Mrs. Pickering adopts the orphaned kitten, naming him Buster, and he grows into a playful, bouncing cat who loves fetching balls and living alongside her three friendly Basset hounds.
