Clearance – final unit. This is the last one from older stock and we are not restocking it, so it is priced to clear. It is a single brand-new, unused socket, not a second, and our 12 month warranty still applies.
A panel-mount 12V accessory socket in the standard cigarette-lighter size, so a phone charger, GPS, dash cam, tyre inflator or any other 12V plug-in device can run from a vehicle, boat, caravan or battery box. A rubber cap on a strap closes the front and keeps dust and dirt out when nothing is plugged in.
It fits a round hole of about 28mm: the threaded body goes through the panel and the flange sits on the front. It comes as the socket and cap only, with no rear nut or wire lead, so plan on a nut to suit the thread (or a bracket) and your own wiring. At the back, spade terminals are moulded + and -, so you can push on insulated spade connectors or solder the wires.

Fuse the feed
Run the + wire through an inline fuse fitted close to the battery, sized to protect the wire you use. It protects the wiring if anything ever shorts.

Cut the hole and fit it
Cut a hole a little under 28mm and open it out until the thread just passes. Push the socket in from the front and fix it from behind with a nut or bracket.

Connect the wires
Fused + wire to the large plain tab marked +, and the negative wire to the tab with the hole, marked -, back to the battery negative or a good chassis earth. Leave the small middle tab free.

Check it works
Plug in a 12V USB charger and its light comes on. If it stays dark, check the fuse and that + and – are not swapped: on a meter’s continuity setting, the + tab beeps to the centre contact.
