Description
Unused, pure linen – this is a great vintage tea towel with an image of the Yeoman Warders of the Tower of London, based on an 1888 engraving with the same title, originally published in The Graphic ( a British newspaper at the time).
The image is a line of Yeoman Warders in their distinctive red state uniforms with halberds (spear axes) framed by a green border.
Made in Ulster, Ireland – the home of quality linen – in the 1970s although it is possible this is a later printing? The weave of the linen is a bit looser, which is more typical of the later 1980s/1990s.
Good big size: length: 48 cm, width 77cm
