Manganese glass?
Used small amount of Manganese to glass is one of the old technique to make clear glass. Manganese was widely used (to make clear glass) till about 1930 and some may still use it today. If you leave Manganese clear glass under sun light (UV light) long time, it will turn purple colour glass.
Manganese are also use to make colour (Amethyst / Purple) glass. Manganese are glow under UV light.
